HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY, Wanderful Wednesday!
This part year has been an amazing ride and this community made it all the better. You were there for my first sponsored trip abroad, my pregnancy journey and our move to Brussels. You offered words of encouragement, shared wanderful travel advice and showed us a glimpse of your expat life.
I always look forward to reading a part of your story every Wednesday. I love learning about little corners of the world through your eyes, specially if I have that place in my never-ending travel bucket list. But more so when, after reading one of your posts, I find myself adding one more place to that list!
You see, when I started blogging, I started it as a way to document my journey to the sunny side of the Alps because I wanted an outlet. I was feeling misunderstood and alone. I thought I was crazy for moving away for love or for wanting a life of travel or for wanting to try a life in a foreign country. But slowly, a whole new world opened to me. The world of the travel/expat bloggers.
In this world, I was no longer the odd one out (okay, I still might be but not for the reasons I listed above).
And now, places that used to be a distant travel wish, are now places with a friendly face on them. Like those of Urska in Luzern, Switzerland, Ava in Charlotte, USA, Cynthia in Czech Republic, Jamie at the Oregon Coast, USA, Anna all the way up at the Skybridge in Langkawi, Malaysia (waaah!!), Katherine in San Francisco, USA, Ali at Beeston Castle in the UK , Christine in Houston, USA, Melanie Torreya at State Park, Florida, USA, Van up north in Tromso, Norway, and Lauren & Marcella in Santiago de Chile where these lucky ladies get to have their cool blogger dates together!
We wanted a link-up where you could not only share your fantastic exotic destinations, but also a place for your local adventures, your favorite things about your hometown or your life abroad. There is always something special about finding or discovering a new gem where you thought you couldn’t find any. Isn’t it funny how our whole perspective changes once you’re a blogger? You see things in a new fresh, angle and you begin to appreciate the beauty of your surroundings in a different way.
So after all the struggles of starting a new life abroad, it has been a beautiful honor to build a community where people with all kinds of backgrounds, cultures and languages get to share so much more than just travel posts together. We have built our hub, a place to meet up and catch up, our own unique tribe.
To all of you part of this community, thank you. You make the Internet a little more awesome, and make an expat, nomad, or traveler feel a little less alone each day.
Now, tell us.. what would you like to see more of at Wanderful Wednesday? What you like to incorporate to the agenda (cough a blogging meet up cough)? We would love to read what you have in mind!
Much love from Bruxelles,
Welcome to another edition of #WanderfulWednesday! The link-up where you can share your expat and travel highlights and musings with us.
